Christina Nichols

Artist Statement

My work is mostly inspired by nature. Lately Ive been spending more time on collagraphs and discovering the surprising textures that appear from this layering process. The transformation that occurs during the printing process is always intriguing. Sometimes fantastic, other times disappointing but always interesting. Another process that I love is copperplate etching. With this process I can achieve a detail that is necessary in scientific renderings. I enjoy trying to interpret the amazing detail that nature offers. Its a challenge, but oh so rewarding.
