Artist Statement
Watercolor is certainly a challenging medium however I have stuck with it for more than four decades because it is by far the most satisfying artistic endeavour I have ever done. The transparency of washes and blending of pigments using simply water feels more organic and closer to nature than other methods. I paint quickly and in one sitting, using large brushes and lots of water. Often this happens outdoors and during travels. Natural settings inspire me the most and capturing a sense of light is the most important objective.

Jeff is an award winning watercolor artist and teacher. His paintings have been exhibited both throughout the U.S. and abroad. He is an active Signature Member of the Northwest Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society. He began painting in watercolor in the 1970�s while a student of Architecture at the University of Kansas. His teaching currently includes private and small group classes at his Vashon art studio and occasional larger group workshops.
