Artist Statement
I like to paint where I am, whether at home or traveling.
Vashon is more than ever wild, tangled, eccentric and pulsing with magic. It is the home of my heart. You never know what you'll find around the next curve or out along the shore.
I can't wait to see what turns up in my next painting.

Robyn paints as a way to communicate with the subject, to intensify empathy and to see more deeply. Her work relies upon the process of dialog between herself and the animals, plants or landscape she is painting. What she is describ- ing with her surface, line and color is only some small expression of the much larger essence. She loves the physical act of painting.
Robyn has an MA in Painting from the University of Iowa and has painted and taught studio arts in the college system for many years. She also has vast expe- rience teaching studio arts in the communities in which she has lived. She and her daughter are happy to be living on Vashon again after many years away.
