April Dalinis

Artist Statement
Loving the way colors flow and bleed into one another, I layer multiple glazes to create soothing scenes inspired by our natural surroundings on classic, simple wheel thrown forms. I carefully choose woods that pair well with these glazes to highlight and provide depth to each specific piece. I strive to craft pottery that heightens connection and serenity in our daily lives. Hoping to communicate these intentions, I envision in what ways an object can remind us to be more present and fully enjoy each moment. With this as my goal, I focus on making items that feel comfortable to hold and touch, have a sense of purpose, and invite frequent use as well as thoughtfully shaping pieces to define and improve their functional designs.

Artist Bio
April is a potter who makes light, bright functional stoneware pottery with a fluid, watercolor-like glaze style. Enjoying the calm focus of working on the wheel, she has been throwing clay for over 20 years. In addition to making kitchenware for everyday use, she combines different types of wood with pottery to make unique lidded jars, tray sets, and table lamps. Growing up in the PNW, she formed a strong connection early on with the oudoors and graduated from Bastyr University studying plants and herbal medicine. Inspired from that love of nature, earthy elements and ethereal skies are reflected in her work.
