Artist Statement
My fine art photographs of crystals offer a uniquely beautiful perspective of nature. Grown from solution by evaporation, the crystal arrays are photographed with a high-resolution digital imaging microscope. The intricate patterns often produce stunning rainbows of color by refraction of light through the crystal facets and are as delicate and transient as a snowflake. Though highly representational, my artwork creates an aesthetic that feels both contemporary and abstract.

Artist Bio
Lee�s background as a research scientist and his degree in biomedical photography led him to develop specialized techniques for growing, then photographing crystals through the microscope. His fine art photographs of the infinitely varied crystalline patterns and colors that appear are magnified thousands of times.
A multi-award-winning artist, Lee�s photographic art is exhibited worldwide and represents a culmination of his lifelong fascination with the distinctive manifestations of beauty in both art and science.
