Darsie Beck
Artist Statement
Beck is a member of Vashon Visual Artists, Urban Sketcher Group Tacoma and a founding member of Port Townsend Urban Sketcher Group and an annual artist in residence at Centrum Foundation at Fort Worden. He has taught travel journal sketch workshops at the NWMC and Northwind Art in Port Townsend, Tacoma Art Museum, Rick Steves travel groups, Washington State University and most recently Swiftwater Gallery. Grover Gallery, Port Townsend and Swiftwater Gallery are Darsie's gallery affiliations.

Darsie Beck's creative impetus is derived from the maritime environment that surrounds him, the island he lives on, the workboats, and ships that ply the waters of Puget Sound, the flora and fauna and the climate all serve to inspire, to evoke his creative spirit and coax his art from him. Watercolor and acrylic painting, stone carving and travel journal sketching have been his passion and medium of creative expression for the past 45 years.
