Fun in July!
Please join us July 7th for Vashon Summer Nights, 5-8pm and get involved in all the activities going on at Swiftwater and in town! First Friday will feature a selfie photo station with cardboard cutouts painted by Swiftwater artists. Snap a bunch of silly pics with your friends and families and see the multitude of new artwork on display in the gallery. We promise it will be a night to remember!
Our monthly window exhibit will highlight 'Images of Vashon' in July as we celebrate all things Vashon!
We are also spotlighting all of our photographers this month.
Swiftwater hosts an incredible group of photographers! This group is full of pros. They are all award winning, published, and have shown work nationally. We are lucky to have them here on Vashon and in the gallery.
Michelle Friars' current work captures objects in the phases in-between. She focuses on finding the precise point in time when everything stands still, not quite moving forward or back. Her black and white photographs highlight this moment as she challenges our concepts around movement and time. | Valerie Wilson's wood backed photographs are a combination of still life, renaissance style, and glowing colors. She manipulates objects to make the subject matter jump out and demand you take in all the complexities. Fascinated with the process of art, she achieves her vibrant look by taking repeated shots at low shutter speeds and layering them together. |
